Two days worth of being bed ridden (not by choice but by being overruled) and one very uncomfortable conversation/interrogation with Gideon Monteverde later and Alec had finally finally managed to make his way out of the Institute without raising any objections. It was technically three days since they'd defeated Lilith, but it felt more like weeks. "Weeks" of not being able to see his mother or Magnus. He'd texted them. Itwas somewhat stiltedly, he'd admit, with his left hand considering the right was still wrapped up. No amount of healing runes had been able to instantly repair a solid break in his wrist. He'd been assured that with patience and the proper exercises, he'd be able to shoot again in no time.
The point was, though, that he hadn't seen them. Texting wasn't the same, even if it was reassuring. And tonight he was determined to fix that.
He'd taxi'd over to Magnus's loft: he was rebellious but not a complete idiot. He knew he wasn't fit to be running all over Brooklyn just yet. And when he finally got there, he found himself frozen outside the door. What if... what if Magnus didn't want to see him, after everything that'd happened. He'd been out of it back in that alley, but coherent enough to realize what Magnus had told Jace. That he'd traded his magic to his father for whatever power had been able to purge the owl from Jace's body. He was grateful for what he'd done, he wouldn't lie, but the cost. Angel, he'd never anticipated the cost. He'd thought a deal or something-- something he could work through with Magnus. Or maybe even something he, himself, could've offered, but not such an integral part of Magnus's lifestyle.
Not that, it mattered, not to him anyway. Magnus was still Magnus with or without his magic, but he'd thought about what it might be like to be deruned, and now he had his mother as proof--- he could only imagine what Magnus would be going through now. And possibly going through alone for the past few days.
And it was that thought that settled it for him. Whatever insecurities or regrets he might be having, they didn't come before finding out how Magnus was doing. So with a decisive nod he leaned his wait on the door frame and knocked. "Magnus? It's me" he called through the door. words: ### || tagged || notes: abcAnnie || caution

[attr="class","life"] ❝ tell me, if my voice is fake should i have not thrown myself away? tell me, if this pain is fake, then what must i do? [attr="class","les"] W ith a small frown upon the warlock's face, Magnus poured his hand-shaken Martini into his usual glass, with a olive at itside to accompany. His lair was lit dim, reflecting his sadness -- his hair lifeless and his clothes rather wrinkly. Within his own self-depression, the warlock hadn't even been bothered to smear on his usual boldness of makeup nor fixed his chipped nail polish. Rendered speechless, Magnus' mind took him to many places, including the possiblity of him living a mundane life -- something the warlock didn't expect. Even though there are cons, perhaps there were also advantages? The warlock thought to himself. Now he could even...Grow old with Alec, live out his life until he passed like a normal human being. It sounded pleasant at first, but that isn't him. Being mundane isn't him. With his martini now in hand, Magnus held it high, while he slowly but swiftly paced around the living room of his loft; too many thoughts clouding his judgement. It had been 3 days since Lillith was defeated and his friend...Alec's family, his brother Jace was set free. 3 days since Magnus had been rendered powerless. The trade to save his friend was rather heavy, something his father Asmodeus, the prince of Hell rather enjoyed -- seeing others suffer for his own benefit. Even his own son. With a sip, Magnus lightly shook his drink, watching as it hit side by side upon the glass. He missed his friend. He missed his magic. He missed Alec. His young love was recovering after his painful injuries, thus preventing him from seeing the Shadowhunter. Of course, they had sent messages to and from one another -- using those strange pieces of technology that Magnus somewhat hated -- but for Magnus; it wasn't enough. Especially during this dire time. "Perhaps...I'll go visit him." Magnus muttered to himself, feeling some sort of his usual confidence return to him. The warlock walked over to his mirror, watching how a lifeless man stared back at him, before the two frowned. "Or...Maybe not."Magnus sighed, sipping his martini once more while his thoughts trapped him yet again. But the sound of soft knocks and a recognisable voice reached out for him within his sub-conscious and captured his attention. "-Magnus? It's me." he heard, and his usual smile returned once more. Alec, his love was here...Just when Magnus truly needed him. With his heart full, Magnus waved his hand, expecting his magic to open the door for him. But Magnus was left disappointed once more. He sighed, not used to adapting to life without magic and placed his martini down. Ruffing his clothes and even his hair, he approached the door; opening it with a small click. "Alec" He breathed, smiling small and pulling his tall giant of a boyfriend into a hug. "To what do I owe the pleasure? You should really be resting." | [attr="class","goodness"] ✎ 483 words |
