[attr="class","colsf"]Magnus Bane is an intelligent and cunning Warlock with senses of passion burned within him. From his troubled past, Magnus finds it easy to sympathise with others thus making him caring and compassionate alongside friends and even strangers. During his time as the High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus portrayed his protective side of his people, taking control of his leadership and putting the responsiblity of his people's safety on his shoulders. Because of his seriousness in relation to his leadership, Magnus also found difficulty in trusting Shadowhunters due to the history between them and his fellow Downworlders', which always resulted in the cruelty of the Shadowhunters harming the Downworlders'. Yet, because of his compassionate and caring traits, Magnus isn't against being rather friendly to the Shadowhunters, especially ones who don't seek to inflict harm.[break][break]
Aside from this, Magnus can also be seen as a rather sarcastic and witty Warlock, who can't help but come up with said retorts especially when annoyed or hurt. He usually blames his negative traits such as this because of his past and how his life was rather lonely and empty, leaving the Warlock vulnerable. But as a Warlock who's employed for help or his services, Magnus is portrayed as an incredibly reliable being, almost always being able to provide a helping hand to simple and complex problems. Throughout his lonely life, however, Magnus has sought the comfort of both men and women, thus being openly bisexual and even non-discriminatory as he has dated Downworlders, mundanes and even recently...A Shadowhunter by the name of Alec Lightwood.[break][break]
However, in the present day, Magnus continues to shine those positive traits of himself, with his intelligence and compassion allowing him to continue and strive, providing as pieces of will-power in order to keep his love, friends and the people he calls family safe.

[attr="class","colsf"]From a young age, Magnus believed he was part demon, as at the age of 9 his mother discovered golden cat-like eyes when the young boy looked upon her. Yet many years after, Magnus grew to understand and adapt to his Warlock self alongside the abilities he learned and maintained and therefore slightly stripping that negative trait about himself. However, as a Warlock, Magnus has been blessed with immortality, his physical side refusing to age, maintaining the appearance of his younger self for many centuries. Through the immortality advantage, Magnus has also seen the ways in how the world has changed, alongside the different techniques other kinds of Warlocks would use, to be able to adapt to said year -- and even the different ways people would protect themselves from danger and threats. These were all features that allowed Magnus to improve vastly and continue to adapt as the years flew by.[break][break]
Alongside his blessed immortality, Magnus was given access to magical powers which were usually manifested as different coloured orbs, which are depended on the type of magic the Warlock uses and the purpose he has to use it for. His magic can also be seen in small like flames or even firey sparks that would peak through his fingertips and grow as spells would carry out. The Warlock is capable of casting many different spells, anything simple or complex which can be specifically exampled through Magnus' looks as he glamours his eyes to seem rather ordinary in New York City. However, when he is vulnerable or lost in the moment, his cat-like eyes can be seen. In addition, the former High Warlock of Brooklyn can also perform summoning rituals, healing magic (which he doesn't do too lightly, but anything for a lover, friend or family) and even memory magic.[break][break]
However, even though Magnus has access to his magical powers, there are many times in which his magic will somewhat deplete depending on the strength of the magic he is using. To overcome this, Magnus originally flirted his way into using the Shadowhunter Alec Lightwood's 'strength' in order to help.[break][break]
While the Warlock has many magical traits towards him, Magnus also has various mundane qualities around him. A few of these relate to his compassion and his ability to sympathise with others during dire moments. Magnus has always had a heavy heart when caring for others and can never prevent himself from providing or offering help to friends and even strangers.

[attr="class","colsf"]Magnus Bane was born sometime in early December of the 17th century to a half-Dutch and half-Indonesian woman and the man known as Asmodeus, The Prince of Hell, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Which was known as Batavia of the Dutch East Indies during the time. As Magnus' biological father had disappeared shortly before his birth, life as a child was rather normal alongside his mother and his new step-father. The 'normal' life lasted well until Magnus turned 9 years old when his mother discovered strange amber cat-like eyes upon her son, highlighting her realisation that her son was in fact -- part demon. Magnus' mother refused and could not grasp the understanding that she bore the son of a demon and thus committed suicide shortly after her discovery. His step-father resented the young boy and began to call him an abomination as well as blamed Magnus for his mother's death. The continuous spiteful words did not last long as Magnus' inner frustration and anger triggered his powers, resulting in the young warlock burning his step-father to death as well as his home around him.[break][break]
This then brought around the start of Magnus' lonely life and how he grew alone. The young boy shortly left Batavia, travelling around the world and begun to pick up different skills to improve his new-found magic. When Magnus found himself in Madrid, Spain, he was then brought up by the Silent Brothers who taught Magnus many skills and provided the warlock with many ways to live within the mundane world to prevent exposure. During his time with the Silent Brothers, they named him Magnus Bane, the name he continues to use even until the present day. Yet departing away from them, Magnus became aware of his father and the influence his father had on other Warlocks and Downworlders. Using this to his advantage, Magnus would occasionally bring up his power and use it in his favour to shift any sense of danger away from him.[break][break]
As the centuries began to pass, so did many of Magnus' relationships, as within 1857; Magnus sold his home in London before purchasing a ruby necklace for his lover Camille Belcourt, who he had a slightly complicated relationship with as the two would break up several times within their relationship. Yet after discovering Camille was having an affair with a Russian mundane, as well as understanding the vampire's dark views on love and her emotionally manipulative ways; Magnus' heart was broken. He still sympathised and viewed her with gratitude for the vampire as during a rough patch during the 1870s, Camille had saved Magnus from attempting suicide at Blackfriars Bridge. But because of her craving for darkness and manipulation, the two parted ways and Magnus began travelling once more.[break][break]
Considering Magnus viewed all Downworlder's lives as valuable, something he realised he cherished once he had grown, the Warlock rather enjoyed helping new Downworlders understanding their situations and helping them through the Downworld, reflecting the treatment Magnus craved when he was young. During this century, Magnus had become rather fond of Raphael Santiago, a newly-turned Vampire who Magnus thought was like a son to him. Magnus helped Raphael through his darkest moments and done as much as the Warlock could do to ensure Raphael could live an ordinary vampire life...As ordinary as it could be.[break][break]
A few decades after meeting Raphael, Magnus decided to settle within Brooklyn, New York City in which he originally ran a nightclub called the Pandemonium before Magnus became the High Warlock of Brooklyn. As Magnus was now a well-known Warlock within the City a Shadowhunter by the name of Jocelyn Fairchild approached him one night, begging him to perform a task that wasn't impossible but instead rather cruel: take the memories of the Shadow World from her child Clary. Magnus refused at first, stating how Jocelyn would just be deceiving her own child, objecting that the young redhead should just know the truth, but Jocelyn continued to insist which led to Magnus eventually accepting. The memories of Clary Fairchild, every time her mother came to visit, were fed to the Greater Demon Valak, to prevent anything from happening if Valentine, Clary's father, came in search of the Cup.[break][break]
As the year's passed, Magnus paid no attention to the possibility of what could have potentially happened to the young Fairchild, especially since Jocelyn did not return. Yet Magnus' speculations got the best of him as shortly after Magnus had been manipulated into an exchange between himself and the young-well older Fairchild. The necklace he had given to his previous lover in return for Clary's memories; even though many of his people opposed the meeting. The Warlock already knew he could not retrieve the girl's memories, as he had fed them to Valak for their own safety, yet decided to meet with her regardless within a rave at Hardtail. The encounter had interested the eye of a Circle assassin, which panicked the Warlock, thus escaping through Portal. But with his safety now restored, he noticed that a button from his coat was missing and thus expected the arrival of the Shadowhunters, yet he was horridly welcomed with the death of many Warlocks who sought refuge alongside Magnus in his heavily-warded lair. With anger coursing through him alongside the help of the Shadowhunters, Magnus was able to defeat the unexpected Circle Members, but during one fight with a member, he was met with Alec Lightwood who instantly charmed the Warlock which was the start of the story between the Shadowhunter and the Warlock...[break][break]
During this time, Magnus is once more introduced to the young Fairchild, who seemed to have grown into a wonderful young lady living a mundane life. Feeling sympathy for the confused Shadowhunter, he agrees to help to retrieve her memories, which initiates the start of the summoning ritual. Valak, the Greater Demon demands from each person in the room a memory of their most beloved person, yet the same young Shadowhunter who charmed Magnus is the one to break the ritual as he lets go. Magnus then discovers the reason around is, is that Jace is Alec's love one, and the young Lightwood is worried about his reaction, stirring confusion in the Warlock as he tries to re-consider if he potentially has a chance with the Shadowhunter. Which was confirmed when the Shadowhunter accepted Magnus' request to go out on a date with him.[break][break]
As time passed through, the Warlock noticed that Alec would further stray away from who he truly was, which truly peaked when the Lightwood proposed to Lydia Branwell, the temporary head of the New York Institiute. But, finally adapting to having Shadowhunters as friends, Clary, Jocelyn's young child approached Magnus with another request -- provide help on the potion her mother took in order to protect herself from Valentine. Magnus discovered that it was Ragnor Fell, an old friend, who created the potion. In order to distract himself from Alec's wedding with Lydia, Magnus portalled both Clary and Jace to Ragnor's house near London, where Magnus felt comfortable to open up to his old friend once more. Yet shortly after arriving, a Shax demon attacked and killed Ragnor, something entirely unexpected. Witnessing his friend's death, Magnus began to grieve and took his friends belongings back to New York, to investigate the potion further. One night while investigating, Magnus is welcomed by the ghost of his friend or even his memory, which provided Magnus with the advice he needed, especially around the subject of love, highlighting how Magnus truly wanted to fight for Alec.[break][break]
Because of his newfound determination to make the Shadowhunter boy his, Magnus rushed to the Institue, being welcomed by intruding eyes and murmurs questioning why a Downworlder was watching the Ceremony. Watching Alec in a suit sparked something in Magnus and only increased his 'crush' even further, making him feel like a modern High school teen. But when his lips unexpectedly met the others soft ones, Magnus knew Alec was finally his.[break][break]
With the wedding ruined and the departure of Lydia, things seemed brighter for the Warlock and the Shadowhunter, especially considering Alec was coming into terms that he was just attracted to men. With Alec in a better mood, Magnus then proceeded to put his attention onto the potion that cast Jocelyn to sleep and was able to find a bookmark that was ones sealed in the Book of the White. Through it, Magnus discovered he was able to track it back to Camille who was imprisoned in a coffin for her previous manipulative and dark tactics, the same ways she continued many centuries after her relationship with Magnus. While the Shadowhunters helped Camille escaped and returned her to Magnus, she taunted the Warlock for falling in love with a Shadowhunter and reminded him of their twisted love in the past. Yet Magnus continued to disregard what she would say and instead performed the spell when the book was found in Camille's apartment, successfully waking Clary's mother, Jocelyn.[break][break]
Now intertwined with the Shadowhunters', Magnus' life became a twist of mysterious events and troublesome problems as he attempted to live a non-lonely life, helping others when employed for his services alongside his friend's requests. Yet when Jace went missing after joining Valentine, Magnus struggled to track the adopted Lightwood, resulting with his young love Alec to lash out at everyone around him. Desperate, which Magnus could see in the young man's eyes, Alec began to beg Magnus to track Jace through his Parabatai rune, which Magnus instantly refused as he knew of the risks it would arise, and harm his love. [break][break]
Contradicting his earlier self, Magnus finally accepted the terms that he was beginning to accept the Shadowhunters as sympathetic beings -- he was then called in for a strange interview by Victor Aldertree inside the Institute. Throughout the interview, Magnus felt the same way he felt as a child. Unwanted and uncomfortable. Feelings he still continues to hate feeling. However, the result from his own interview, only angered the Warlock as he was banned from the Institute, along with all other Downworlders, which meant the young Fairchild's friend, Simon also faced problems. With Jace still absent and Alec's emotions still firey and the ban set in place, Magnus decided to provide the Shadowhunters with some space, especially after his small argument with Alexander -- which was then repaired, with the Warlock telling Alec to always be open with him and to not push him away.
As days passed on and boredom struck Magnus, he was approached by Simon Lewis, a newly-turned vampire and Clary Fairchild's close friend, requesting for help in order to find Camille after being ordered to by Raphael. The Warlock originally refused because of his past with the elder vampire but Simon, on the other hand, refused to take no for an answer and continue to request. Unable to prevent himself from helping, Magnus then Portals Simon and himself to Camille's home in Agra, India. While there, Magnus discovers some of his own belongings while Simon ventured off. As the curiosity built within the Warlock he looked upon Camille's items, finding objects that she had never returned to him, including a Keris, an ancient weapon Magnus' mother used to kill herself, stirring confusion and conflcition in the Warlock. After leaving Camille's apartment and dealing with the fire-breathing snake he gifted her, Magnus felt rather brotherly towards the young vampire and continued to help him live within the Mundane world as a Downworlder, as he saw himself within Simon and didn't want him to have the same experience Magnus did as a young boy.[break][break]
Magnus shortly discovered that Alec had fallen into a coma after using an Adamas stone -- gifted by Luke -- in order to track Jace, arising panic and concern for his love. Breaking the rules around the ban of Downworlders in the Institute, Magnus arrived regardless, attempting to use his magic in order to awaken Alec but was only able to keep the young Lightwood stable and alive, highlighting his realisation that his magic couldn't help him, but instead only Jace's presence could. Further going against Aldertree's orders, Magnus portalled Alec, Isabelle and himself to his loft to reunite him with Jace resulting with a speedy recovery. In the back of the warlock's mind, he knew that punishment was expected, which only came true when Aldertree informed the Warlock of an expected punishment. Although Magnus was expecting it, it never arrived to himself specifically but instead to someone he loved: Raphael, who was tortured while the situation was disguised as an interrogation for information against Camille. Raphael, then at his most desperate time begged Magnus for help in order to search for the elder vampire. As Magnus was previously helping Simon, the box they discovered turned out to be her grave dirt, allowing a way for the warlock to summon his past love. Summoning her alone, Magnus considered giving her a chance, calling her out on her actions, on her being a terrible sire and exclaiming how she endangered Raphael, a Downworlder he sees as his son. As a result of her manipulativeness, especially her method of attempting to escape, Magnus sends his old love through a Portal to the Clave, resulting in the final chapter between the two.[break][break]
Even though Magnus had a good relationship with Alec before their busy lives and during their busy lives, Magnus became determined to work on his relationship with the young Shadowhunter and began planning their first date. Pretending that there was an emergency through a fire message, Magnus makes Alec rush over, Magnus declares his new found ambition and sets a date for the two to arrive at Hunter's Moon. Throughout the night, Magnus felt comfortable being open with Alec, drinking and even playing competitive pool. But by the end of the night, things took a turn with Magnus discovering that Alec had never been in a relationship before while Alec discovered Magnus' past relationships with thousands of people. For the rest of the night, Magnus began to notice how the Lightwood had changed, becoming quiet before he expressed his doubt on how the two of them were rather different from one another, bringing tension towards the end of their date. Although, Alec contradicted his doubt by reconsidering and the two expressed how they didn't care for their pasts in relation to their previous relationships. The two shared a kiss and decided they both want to put in effort into their relationship for it to be a good one.[break][break]
Time with Alec felt like a blur to Magnus as the two would go on multiple dates, including trips to Tokyo and Prague through Portallng. From one of their trips, Magnus bought the Lightwood an Omamori Charm with the symbolic meaning to bring luck and protection to the wearer. While in Hunter's Moon later on, Magnus opened up to Maia Roberts, a young wolf part of Luke's pack, expressing how it had been a long time since Magnus had gifted anyone, proving Alec to be a special person, opening up his vulnerability once more, which especially peaked through when Alec requested to take their relationship to the next step while Magnus believed if they moved too fast too soon he would lose the Shadowhunter. After some reassurance and more time spent with the Shadowhunter, Magnus became even more vulnerable and lost control over his glamour magic, revealing his amber cat-like eyes -- his Warlock mark. The warlock was rather afraid of Alec's reaction, along with a string of self-consciousness while Alec reassured and comforted him.[break][break]
Throughout their relationship, the two faced many comments and tense moments, which always resulted in Magnus attempting to prove their strong bond/relationship. This is specifically highlighted as Magnus hosted a party in honour of Max, Alec and Isabelle's younger brother as the youngest Lightwood received his first rune. During the party, Iris Rouse cast a spell which affected the Shadowhunters, focusing on their insecurities and fears amongst their friends and family. With Alec, the Lightwood was close to committing suicide until the Warlock saved him. Using his magic, Magnus was able to stop the spell, identify the Warlock and sent her to the Clave. Unknown to him, Clary had a blood oath with Iris, which activated through an old French spell: La Chair Brûlée, or "The Burnt Flesh". Yet Magnus informed he could not help her as blood oaths are binding and have to be completed.[break][break]
As days felt like weeks and weeks felt like months, time with the Shadowhunters and other Downworlders passed by, and Magnus eventually found himself attending a meeting hosted by Luke Garroway, a werewolf close to Clary, for Downworlder representatives, discussing Valentine's upcoming plans for the Soul Sword. As it was discovered that Clary can activate the sword, the Seelie Queen sent Meliorn, a Seelie with an intimate past with Isabelle, Alec's sister, to execute Clary. Raphael, who represented the vampires in the meeting was in agreement for this while Magnus and Luke disagreed, with Maguns' disappointment in Raphael showing through, especially as Magnus also discovered Raphael had been seeing Isabelle, in order to give her, her 'fix' on Yin Fen or Vampire venom. Which resulted in small amounts of violence between Alec and Raphael, as the vampire was blinded by his addiction.[break][break]
While things were starting to seem normal, a rush of events flashed before Magnus' eyes, and soon he was faced with the protection of the new Shadowhunter, Clary, once more. However, Valentine shocked Clary by video-called her with a knife to Simon's throat. Worried and concerned for his friend's safety, Magnus portalled them nearby the Institute, where Magnus was met with members of Raphael's clan, preventing him from casting any spell while Raphael attempted to kill Clary. After they were saved, Raphael and the Seelies were convinced to unite alongside Magnus and the Shadowhunter's to fight against Valentine, to prevent him from activating the sword. During their time while split up, Magnus discovers Madzie, approaching the young warlock and informing how Valentine was using her skills and lying to her. Magnus offered help, taking the child warlock to his friend Catarina Loss. Returning to the Institute, Magnus was met with the slaughter/death of many Downworlder's and a concerned Alec, afraid that the Warlock was potentially dead. Through fear, the two confessed their love for each other and shared an intimate kiss.[break][break]
As things started to somewhat repair itself and Magnus' usual ordinary society was once restored, Magnus was then met with another strange request from the Shadowhunters, including the examination of a sample found on the victims from a Greater Demon. As Magnus has seen many things while growing up, he instantly determined the sand was from Duduael and the demon in question was Azazel. Determined to help his friends once more, Magnus summons the demon using Valentine as bait which only brings around the Warlock's downfall, as Azazel casts a spell in which swaps Magnus and Valentine's bodies. Within the body of a murderer, Magnus struggles to convince the Clave that it's really him and instead is tortured by the Inquisitor who was questioning Valentine for the location of the Mortal Cup. The rune used on Magnus makes the Warlock relive painful memories in which he tried to forget; including the death of his mother and the start of his magical powers as he burned his step-father to death. Tired to go on, Magnus continues to attempt to convince the Clave and even Alec that he is, in fact, Magnus, something that's hard to accept considering Valentine is known for his manipulative actions. Even though the Clave refused Imogen Herondale's request to execute Valentine, she ignores the order and prepares for Valentines-Magnus' death.[break][break]
Before Magnus is killed, the real Valentine within Magnus' body appears in a holographic message with Jace as his hostage. Being freed by Imogen, Magnus returns to his loft switching his body back with Valentine. As they're both back in their bodies, Valentine attempts to escape once more through a Portal but is stopped firstly by Magnus followed by Clary. Forever traumatised by the events, Alec tries to comfort the warlock, questioning how he can fix things. However as the days went by -- post torment -- many Shadowhunters turn up dead with runes carved out, which creates speculation from the Clave that a Downworlder uprising is approaching. In order to prove Downworlders are innocent, the Clave instruct the Institute to gather DNA Samples from every Downwordler and when Alec approached Magnus, Magnus expressed his sadness and Alec's inability in not trusting the warlock. In the end, Magnus agreed but a wedge was driven between the two.[break][break]
After spending time with Dot, Magnus realised that he truly loves Alec and that his heart belonged to him. While thinking of these feelings, Alec arrives with an apology stating that Magnus never has to prove himself to him. And shortly after his lover was appointed the new head of the Institute, Alec decided to call for a cabinet meeting with the heads of the local Downworlder faction in order to improve the relations between Shadowhunter and Downworlders. Magnus was in favour of this as it heavily contrasted his early feelings for the ways in which Shadowhunters treated Downworlders. However, when Magnus' torment is brought up within the meeting it sticks to his mind for a while, rendering the Warlock unable to sleep as he continues to dream of his worst memory. Magnus then struggles to open up to Alec about his past, until the Lightwood acts stubborn, refusing to leave until Magnus opens up who reassured the warlock as usual.[break][break]
During another Cabinet meeting with other Downworlders and Alec, the Downworlder's discover they had been lied to as Valentine still has the Soul Sword. Alec also knew of this, explaining to Magnus within a heated argument that he was hiding the truth to protect him. Yet Magnus refused to accept this, lashing out at the Lightwood that he has always been open about his past and his trust in him had been betrayed. Refusing to hear anything else because of frustration and anger, Magnus arranges a meeting with the Seelie Queen along with Luke to represent the werewolves. The two agree to ally themselves with her against Valentine, yet she also had other ideas in mind including being rid of the Clave and entirely independent -- while Luke points out this could mean going against the Shadowhunters. Unsure of his choices, Magnus was gifted a rose and when the petals turn black his time to consider will be over.[break][break]
After Max was found injured at the Institute, Magnus refused to answer Alec's calls until Alec arrives at the loft, stating he needed him because of Max. Magnus couldn't help Max with his magic but remained at the Institute for comfort as they were worried for the youngest Lightwood. Once it was clear Max would be okay, Alec approached the warlock with an apology and Magnus proclaimed his love to Alec once more before stating he couldn't be a good leader while having Alec in his life. From this, Magnus decided to side with the Seelie Queen. While the Queen offered shelter to the Downworlders as long as they became her loyal subjects, Magnus, Luke and all the other Downworlders were double-crossed as the Queen made a separate deal with Valentine to pass to Idris, bypassing the wards Magnus and his warlocks put up to prevent Shadowhunters from passing through. During this moment, Jonathan who is later revealed as Jocelyn and Valentine's son, Clary's older brother opened a rift to Edom, in which Magnus sealed to prevent any harm that the demons would have caused. The warlock stayed in the Institute to investigate the disappearance of the demons when Alec suddenly dropped in pain while his Parabatai rune faded, implying Jace's death thus raising worry and concern for both Jace and Clary.[break][break]
Magnus Portalled to Idris with an injured Alec and Isabelle, watching Raziel, the Angel's summoning from afar. As the three approached closer, Valentine was already dead while Jace and Clary were in each other's arms. Through the success of Valentine's death and the assumption that everyone was okay, Magnus and Alec made up, sharing an intimate moment. In addition, because of his actions before the death of Valentine, Magnus was stripped of his title as High Warlock of Brooklyn only to be replaced by Lorenzo Ray. Magnus continued to hide his shame/hurtfulness by continuing to work like normal and even hid said feelings from Alec who originally came to tell Magnus of some news in regards to a potential promotion, in which Alec planned to refuse in the end.[break][break]
Yet with a new threat over the horizon, Magnus thought society would return to their usual semi-busy life. But with the return of Lillith, the mother of demons, things were about to become chaotic, especially with her right-hand man/demon: The Owl, who eventually turned out to be Jace who was easy to possess once his body was vulnerable when Clary requested he would be brought back to life. Because of Alec and Isabelle's request in order to save their adopted brother, Magnus used his magic to allow the Lightwoods to free Jace from his own mind. However, Lillith arrives once more, threatening the warlock and takes Jace once more after injuring Magnus.
Feeling protective of his friends and having the need to do something, Magnus goes to Edom seeking his father Asmodeus to discuss how his father could save Jace. Through some convincing and negotiation, Magnus arrived in time to free Jace from his possession, exposing that he traded his magic in return for Jace's safety. After Lillith's departure back to Edom through Simon's smart tactic and the sudden disappearance of Clary and Jonathan, Magnus now continues to live a strange life, pondering how mundanes live as he lives without powers.
