[attr="class","colsf"]Isabelle is the kind of girl that feels the right look covers a multitude of sins. To those that she meets, she is a beautiful, intelligent, and tough girl. Strong, independent and more than capable of taking care of herself as well as those around her. While this isn't a lie, it's not exactly the whole truth. Growing up her older brother was the golden child and her parents, her mother especially, had high expectations. Ones she felt she would never live up to, though she certainly tried hard enough. Her family is everything to her and she would fight anyone and anything to protect them. She doesn't exactly feel the same though, coming from her family or friends. Secretly she feels she's more replaceable than she would like and so works hard to help others to not be replaced.
She doesn't exactly share her own fears or emotions, preferring to be there for others, she often drops whatever she is doing for others. Still, she has a strong sense of justice that has very little to do with the letter of the law. She is both desperately searching for and deathly afraid of giving her heart away. So far, when she's let her guard down even a little, she's gotten hurt. Yet she is a bit envious of the love she sees around her. Those that have found someone that would fight for them. She would do whatever she needed to in order to make those around her happy and safe, if only to take her mind off the fact that she's not entirely sure she deserves or will find the same.

[attr="class","colsf"]As a shadowhunter she is trained in fighting, hand to hand especially and in using runes. Her weapon of choice is a whip that can also be a staff. She is also the new Weapons Master at the Institute but that may change depending on the investigation. She's smarter than most give her credit for and has done a pretty good job getting information from the Seelie which isn't exactly easy to do.
[attr="class","colsg"]history
[attr="class","colsf"]Isabelle was the second child born of Maryse and Robert Lightwood, and the first girl. Like her older brother, Alexander, and her younger brother, Maxwell, she was born in the Institute in New York. Like her brother she trained there starting at a young age. Growing up she realized quickly that all hopes were pinned on Alexander. Though she trained hard, and studied hard, she was just never going to measure up. She worked hard to be what she hoped her parents wanted, but while her father seemed to dote on her, her mother constantly dismissed her in favor of her brothers. Even her adopted brother Jace. The thing is, Izzy is a compassionate person and so while she wasn't happy about being dismissed and always feeling like she was falling short, she loved her brothers. She didn't blame them at all, the truth was she blamed herself. To say she was her worst critic would be a massive understatement.
Early on, Jace and Alec worked well together and became parabatai. Isabelle thought that having such a connection would be nice, to have a sister of sorts, someone that accepted her and felt she was actually capable. The problem was, that meant putting herself out there, so instead she told her parents she never wanted a parabati. Even convinced herself of it. Instead she wondered about becoming an Iron Sister. It wasn't exactly something you asked for, you were chosen. So she continued to work hard, hoping that she would be chosen and by being chosen, would finally prove to her mother that she was worth something.
Meanwhile, she and her two brothers went on missions together. Often she was bait, but she wasn't lazy, she wasn't simply a sexy body or pretty face to get the attention of the demons. Oh no, she could hold her own and so the other two never had to worry about rescuing her. If anything, she did quite a bit of rescuing herself! While she has always been fine breaking rules, or moving on her own gut feelings, she has a very strong moral compass. She is more than intelligent enough to question the rules and laws as just or not and so sometimes operates around them. She doesn't have the power to change them, though soon enough, Alec did. When their parents went to Idris with Max, Alec was left in charge. She tries to keep the boys in check, often calling them on things, not necessarily things by law but by what her own moral thoughts are as far as fair.
Unlike her brother who has always worked to follow the letter of the law and be the perfect Shadowhunter, she's always been more accepting. Wanting to know someone before judging them. So when a night at Pandemonium ended with some red head getting involved, she kept Alec cool while Jace went to find out what was up. When he brought her back, dying, and wanted to try a rune to save her, she agreed. Alec took awhile to come around, but Izzy right away liked Clary. She wasn't completely sure she was a Shadowhunter right away, but either way, something was up. The next two years was up and down. She met Clary's mundane friend, Simon, and she liked him. Enough that she was ready to help rescue him when he was taken by vampires. She liked Clary enough to watch him while she dealt with the Silent Brothers and as no one beats up Izzy as much as Izzy, she blamed herself.
Sadly, Simon was killed and Clary made the choice to let him turn. Then it was up to Raphael to help him. Her parents came back and of course her mother was disappointed in her while praising the other two. Finding out Clary was Valentine's daughter didn't help and that she might be the only clue to stopping Valentine and finding the mortal cup. She learned that their family was under a lot of scrutiny which confused her as they always had a good reputation. Deciding to take things more seriously as her mother wished, she broke things off with Meliorn, a Seelie lover of hers, and started dressing more like her mother. Her parents were trying to arrange a marriage for her brother and she knew, even if he wouldn't admit it, that he was gay. To protect him she would do anything and tried desperately to fix things for their family, but Alec agreed to the marriage.
She tried to talk to him, but he, as usual, felt family and honor were more important than his own happiness or life. Meanwhile they found out that Jace, was also Valentine's son. It didn't change anything for her, but it sure did for him and Clary. Clary brought Simon to the wedding, but the wedding didn't go through. Alec saw Magnus Bane and couldn't go through with it. Lydia, the intended bride, let him go, telling him he deserved to be happy. Unfortunately she was attacked and the mortal cup, that Clary had finally figured out how to get. Her parents were not happy with Alec and though their disappointment was par for the course for her, she knew it was new for him and stood up for him. Honestly ashamed at how her parents behaved.
Everything seemed to go from bad to worse. Jace saved them by leaving with Valentine, a new head of the institute arrived and she had to constantly defend Jace and Clary to him. He got her hooked on yin fen, she got to see the Iron Sisters but couldn't go inside, she almost lost Alec and had to find Jace to save him, Valentine attacked, Downworlders that had trusted them and come to help died, and it looked like a civil war was brewing. They found out that Jace was not Valentine's son but a Herondale and oh yeah, she was on trial for saving Meliorn from the Silent Brothers. Magnus defended her but they weren't letting her off that easy. She went through withdrawls and started a relationship with Raphael. Finally got clean thanks to a new Shadowhunter, and Raphael broke up with her. Clary's mom was killed, by a possessed Alec, Jace put Alec back in charge of the Institute, Valentine went missing, they ended up fighting demons and portal that were all summoned by Jonathon, Clary's real brother. They defeated the demons while Magnus closed the portal, Valentine killed Jace, and Clary killed him, an angel brought Jace back and Jonathon was dead. As far as they knew anyway. It was a lot, and not necessarily in that order. It was a lot.
Things seem settled. Though there are still some things to deal with as far as family. Her father was cheating on her mother and they were separating, she was going to train Max, and she found out their family had actually been part of the Circle, the reason their loyalty was questioned. Her mother ended up losing her place as a Shadowhunter and was de-runed, while her father was shipped to another Institute. Jace was taken over by Lilith and used and Simon had to make his mother believe he was dead. To be honest, a lot of the time she felt she was just trying to keep her head above water. Trying to help where she could. It looked like things were finally righting themselves when she was helping Luke keep Lilith's disciples at bay and Jace showed up, back to himself. Unfortunately, Clary was lost in the explosion along with Jonathan's body. Simon barely survived and her brother Alec is injured. She tried to help him but the best they could do was get him back to the Institute to be healed. It could be awhile, however, and of course Alicante isn't exactly happy with them all.
